R.I.P. Harold Ramis November 21, 1944- February 24, 2014.

I would like to make a quick post about one of my favorite people in Hollywood, Harold Ramis.  You have been in most of my favorite movies and I am overcome with sadness with your absence.  I suppose this shit happens when you are old.  I will do something to honor him somehow...

Dumb Starbucks?

So I was running errands and heard about a so called Dumb Starbucks that opened up over the weekend.  People were scratching their heads to figure out what is going on at this place.  To the casual observer it really does look like a Starbucks (although a cheaper version)

It was in a typical strip center in trendy Los Feliz Village.  Being in Real Estate myself, I know that Starbucks likes to rent locations with the best visibility and this one clearly isn't.  In fact the spot where the Dumb Starbucks kind of spots are harder to rent.  As you can see in the photo, it attracts quite an audience even though the store is closed due to the LA Health Department.

Those people at the health department were on this like flies on shit.  No seriously, they opened up the store on the weekend and then Monday they shut them down!  They had no health permits whatsoever to be serving food.

Sorry for the crappy photo of the interior.  The windows were tinted and this is the best I could get.

It was revealed recently that comedian Nathan Fielder is behind the entire concept.  Those Canadians!

It is evident that he spent some decent money going through the process.

I thought it was pretty amusing.  The people that tried out the (free!) coffee said it wasn't good.  

Starbucks needless to say was not amused.
